Local Missions Newsletter

As MOVE Missions Week comes to a close, we hope and pray that you are encouraged, challenged, and ready to share the Good News of the Gospel with those most dear to you and those most far from you. Be thinking, "What is next? Who does God want me to share with? How can I take steps of obedience?". Take some time to read through the newsletter and find those places that you can get plugged in and make Christ known. May we go into this month being challenged and encouraged by Romans 10: 14-17:

  "How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Good News!". But they have not all obeyed the Gospel. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?'. So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

Help Teens in Foster Care Celebrate High School Graduation
Cobb DFCS is celebrating with 20 teens who have overcome many obstacles to graduate high school by GED or diploma this spring, and they need your help! Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Visa gift cards are being collected to provide graduation gifts and to help provide for these teens as they take next steps into adulthood. YoungLives West Cobb Meals & Childcare
YoungLives is a branch of YoungLife that ministers to teenage mothers through Young Life Club and Bible studies. Take a look at the Sign Up to find a time that you could donate a meal for their club meetings or provide childcare during their meetings. 

My Sister's House
My Sister's House is an overnight shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness that is run by Atlanta Mission. They provide a safe and healthy environment in which women and children can recover and grow from past experiences. We have team here at JF that serves at My Sister's House on a monthly basis. The role of the team is to serve in the kitchen and help the staff in the areas of: food prep, serving line, pantry organization, washing dishes, and whatever else is needed. The team leaves JFBC around 10am and returns around 2:30pm. Upcoming serve dates are: 3/11, 4/8, and 5/13. If you would like to join this JF team please email Philippe.

Are you an adoptive/foster family? Do you support adoptive/foster families? Do you teach adoptive/foster children?  Join us for proven, practical teaching and insight as well as everyday, hopeful wisdom!

Hope for the Journey Conference (formerly the Empowered to Connect Conference) seeks to encourage and better equip parents and caregivers meeting the everyday needs of children impacted by adoption and/or foster care.  Whether you are part of an adoptive/foster family or serve children who are impacted by adoption/foster you will find great value attending the 5 sessions over 5 weeks. (Continuing Education Credit is available).

Adoption and Foster Care can be tough, put some great tools in your toolbox and receive encouragement. Here are a few topics that will be covered:

There are many opportunities to go on a trip in 2024.  God takes our "yes" and turns it into something life-changing. Check out the mission trips below and be praying about going on one. Augusta, GA: March 15-17 | This team will partner with Matt Judd of Good News Augusta to share the Gospel on Saturday in partnership with Georgia Movement. 

Clarksville, TN: April 4-7 | Families will do outreach, trust building, and light construction. This trip is for families with children of all ages. The team will partner with the Hispanic Ministry at First Baptist Clarksville. 

Hiawassee, GA: April 19-21 | The team will reach out to North Bound Appalachian Trail thru hikers by providing drinks, food, and supplies with the goal of praying and sharing the Gospel with them. 

Sevierville, TN: April 21-26 | The team will be assisting with maintenance and construction projects at Wears Valley Ranch. 

Dominican Republic: May 1-9 | The team will be working alongside local churches to engage the community through medical clinics and sharing Christ. 

Colombia: May 19-26 | The team will support IMB missionaries by engaging with displaced people groups to meet their needs.

Tanzania: July 8-17 | The team will be working with e3 Partners using Community Transformation as a bridge to enter unreached villages to open doors for Gospel conversation and discipleship. 

Kenya: July 8-16 | The team will be serving with supported partners through training, outreach with students, and community-wide sports event. 

Indialantic, FL: July 20-24 | Team of SHINE volunteers will help FBC Indialantic with a VBS program for teens and adults with special needs. 

France: July 28- August 5 | The team will support IMB staff to engage in spiritual conversations through volunteer service points in the official Olympics program.

Greece: August 31-September 9 | The team will be working with AMG and local churches in Athens to host a sports camp. They will be using sports as a platform to build relationships to share the Gospel as well as encourage and disciple believers. 

Tanzania: September 9-19 | The team will be working with e3 Partners using Community Transformation as a bridge to enter unreached villages to open doors for Gospel conversations and discipleship. 

Ecuador: September 20-29 | The team will be serving through VBS, family Bible studies, and working with local churches. 

Japan: October 2-11 | The team will be working alongside an IMB team working with the local church to do discipleship training and local outreach. 

Japan: October 10-20 | The team will be working with Sent Ones to support the local church through a sports day, prayer walks, and sharing the Gospel with locals.
